A message from the President

Dear Bowlers

My name is Ian Green and I started playing bowls many years ago after being told to stop playing Rugby. I played for the Metropolitan Police and in 1988 I was the Captain and a certain Derek Rosier was the secretary. I also played for a couple of Essex clubs and played for the County. When I moved to Suffolk ten years ago I bumped into Derek Rosier who convinced me that i should take over his position as the County Secretary which I did. The Suffolk Men and Ladies ran seperately and both were struggling for volunteers to do the jobs. A joint meeting was held and it was agreed to join forces, a new constitution and competition rules were written and approved by the EIBA where we became the first unified men and ladies County in England.

Last year due to ill health, I found a lady who was willing to take over from me as Secretary, however I was then persuaded to take over as President as there was no other candidate.

I will do my best to support all the County teams, team managers and players and attend as many of the fixtures as possible.

I do hope that you all have an enjoyable and successful indoor season

Ian Green
